In the Church of Christ, the Psalter was especially widely used within the framework of worship; such use of the Psalter began already in apostolic times (see: 1 Cor. 14:26; Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16). But during the discussion, we came to a consensus that for blind people, when listening to a prayer book, it is important not so much the dignity of the speaker, but good diction and correct literary pronunciation.

Chizhik Ekaterina Isaakovna, member of the Society of the Blind, Yurga: “I listen to CDs on the music center. My son taught me, now I can turn it on myself. I specially marked each disc for myself, because. I can't read Braille. In the morning I wake up, wash my face and turn on the disc with morning prayers. A unique prayer book for the blind was presented in Arkhangelsk

In Arkhangelsk, a prayer book for the blind was presented in Braille. Metropolitan Daniel of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory blessed the publication. The unique book was printed in the regional special library for the blind, according to the website of the diocese.

Methodist of the Library for the Blind Nikolai Smirnov spoke about how the idea of a unique prayer book was born. “I was approached by one of the readers with a request to print prayers for her. I printed something, and then the idea arose that we should do all this centrally, so that everyone could use it, because we don’t have such books,” Nikolai said.

According to the specialist, the technical process is fraught with difficulties in converting to Braille: “This is done using a special program and printed on a special printer. If on a regular page about 80 characters fit in a line and about 50 lines fit on one page, then on a Braille page one line is 28 characters, and on a page there are 27 lines. Thus, one page of plain text is 3-4 pages of Braille.”

According to Metropolitan Daniel, today's event is of great importance, because people to whom the Lord has been pleased to give a very special cross - visual impairment - will be able to read prayers written by holy people. “Through prayer, a person changes in his main organ - the heart. It is in contact with strong prayers will experience tenderness, what we call goodness, joy, bliss. How more people join in the prayers, the better,” said the archpastor at the presentation in the creative hall of the Youth Center.

In Arkhangelsk, 12 copies of the prayer book were issued, each consisting of two parts. At the presentation, blind believers received the edition as a gift, and Bishop Daniel blessed everyone with the icon of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow. According to the director of the library Svetlana Borisova, the shrine will become the main relic of this book center.

"Prayer Book" in Braille -

"Prayer Book" in Braille -

special edition for the visually impaired

The Arkhangelsk Regional Special Library for the Blind has published a prayer book printed in Braille. At the presentation, the book was presented to the blind and visually impaired readers of the library.

Printed in the library

This edition has been long awaited. As library director Svetlana Borisova said, they received requests from readers for an Orthodox prayer book more than once, and it became clear that the book was in demand, but it was not in the fund. Readers turned to the Russian State Library for the Blind, but also without success.

“I had a prayer book in audio format, but it is inconvenient to use it - attention is scattered, it is difficult to feel the spirit of prayer,” says library reader Victoria Antipova. - Then I turned to the library with a request to print some prayers in Braille, which are very necessary.

Thus, the idea of publishing such a unique prayer book was born. Fortunately, the library had the technical ability, it remained to settle the ethical nuances: after all, the prayer book is an unusual book. The library staff wrote a letter to the diocese and asked for Vladyka's blessing for the publication.

So, all the formalities have been completed, the paper has been purchased, the braille printer has been launched. The result of the work was a prayer book in two books - “Morning Prayers. Prayers for the coming dream”, “Canons. Prayer of the Optina Elders” – 12 copies. Despite the difficulties that arose during printing, the version turned out to be quite mobile, convenient for everyday use.

Many people read and write in Braille. But printing a sighted text in Braille is not a trivial task, as it turned out, - says Nikolai Smirnov, a library employee. - Our equipment, of course, is not professional, but library. There is a special computer program that translates text from ordinary to Braille. We wanted to print a lot of things, but the thickness of the books stopped us: one page of plain text is 3-4 Braille sheets.

At the presentation, copies of the prayer book were handed over to library readers, a representative of the Arkhangelsk regional organization of the All-Russian Society of the Blind, and a few remained in the library. There are plans to publish more of these books in the near future.

The prayer book was presented as a gift to Metropolitan Daniel of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory, who became the guest of honor of this evening.

Metropolitan Daniel donated the icon of St. Matrona of Moscow to the library

Technique for the benefit

The Prayer Book is not the first book published in the Arkhangelsk Regional Special Library for the Blind. A serious technical opportunity to print books appeared here in 2011, when, thanks to budgetary funding, the library began to purchase the first equipment. And for the past four years, a series of books has been published here, in which the works of library readers, including the blind, are published. Among them are Elena Averkova's collection "The Gift of Fate" and the collection of poems "Inspiration" by four authors: Alexander Gorbunov, Mikhail Klepikov, Nina Lyutikova, Mikhail Selivanov. The collection of poems by Nadezhda Nelzikova "I drink your words" in 2013 became the first book printed in Braille.

In addition to the Braille printer, librarians actively use in their work a variety of tiflo devices and tiflo equipment, which are at the disposal of the library for the blind.

Among them are tiflo flash players and tiflo tape recorders designed for listening to audio books, an apparatus for printing typhlography, a “reading machine” that automatically scans and reads printed material, a computer speech control program, and much more. The technical equipment of the library continues today.

“By the end of the year, under the Accessible Environment program, we will receive 399,000 rubles to organize an accessible environment in the library,” said Svetlana Borisova, “for example, a stairway that wheelchair users can use. Install tactile guide tapes and tiles, holders for crutches. For the convenience of people with hearing impairments, a running line and an induction loop will appear, which removes noise, and people with a device can hear better.

Victoria Antipova showed how to use the prayer book

Despite the name, the Arkhangelsk Regional Special Library for the Blind serves more than 1,700 readers with various diseases: the blind and visually impaired, people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, people with general disabilities, children with various types of health disorders. Library readers include family members of people with disabilities, students and teachers of social faculties, specialists involved in rehabilitation issues. All of them need to be provided with free and unhindered access to information.

As for literature, its choice is also quite wide. And an ordinary person, accustomed to a traditional book, is sometimes surprised. On the shelves we saw publications for the visually impaired printed in regular but large print, books published in braille, and typhlography aids. There are also publications on special media: "talking" books recorded on magnetic tape, CDs in MP3 format, flash cards.

The library fund contains scientific, methodical, educational, medical and fiction literature, special newspapers and magazines.

Young readers are always happy with tactile books. They are made on a textile basis with voluminous or embossed images that are easily perceived by touch. Groping for objects of different shapes and materials, the child associatively associates them with real objects or animals.

At the same time, readers can get special literature not only in Arkhangelsk. In the regions of the region there are more than 20 lending points in municipal libraries, and in Kotlas, Onega and Severodvinsk, representative offices of the regional library for the blind have been opened.

Alexey Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Arkhangelsk Region:

– Thanks to participation in the long-term target programs “Accessible Environment” and “Development of the Cultural Sphere of the Arkhangelsk Region”, the Ministry of Culture of the region financed the purchase of special equipment that allows publishing. Among the readers of the library there are blind poets who have the opportunity to publish their books. It is very important to us that people with handicapped health could fully realize their creative and spiritual needs.

Tiflopribor is a device designed to facilitate the orientation of blind and visually impaired people in space; various types of tiflo devices are based on the use of tactile sensitivity or hearing.

Law of God. Blog

The Law of God website contains a prayer book for the blind and visually impaired

An Orthodox prayer book for the blind and visually impaired people has been recorded in Kuzbass. It is now available for free download on the website of the Law of God project.

Today, more than 300 thousand blind and visually impaired people live in Russia. Someone is blind from birth, someone loses their sight already in adulthood. Everyone has different reasons, but they all face a set of problems that blind people cannot solve on their own. We need the help of close people, society. In the city of Yurga, Kemerovo Region, a project has begun to help blind people find their way to God.

Ekaterina Isaakovna Chizhik, 58 years old, member of the Society of the Blind, Yurga:

Until you go through it yourself, you will never understand. My son still does not fully understand my problems with blindness. Although it has already been 3 years since I lost my sight. Lost quickly, within 40 days. She was diabetic and developed glaucoma. When my husband died suddenly, my blood pressure jumped and… On the fortieth day, I was already undergoing surgery. One eye is completely blind, and the other, thanks to surgery, can see light. But this eye also gradually loses its sensitivity, and soon I will plunge into complete darkness. As long as I could distinguish between dark and light with one eye, I moved around the city by myself. I could go to the store, reach the Society of the Blind. At the same time, strangers often offered their help: to cross the road, open the door, help to enter. Now I can no longer leave the house on my own. A friend always takes me to the society of the blind. I thank her very much for this. Before, when I saw it, I often went to church, but now there is no such opportunity. You need to ask someone to be your guide. It's very depressing, it's hard to be a burden.

Alena Ruleva, member of the Society of the Blind, Yurga, Kemerovo Region:

When a misfortune happens to a person, he tries to turn to God, seeks support for a life of faith. In our society, many of the blind would like to go to church, communicate with the priest, but rarely anyone succeeds. A woman from the community of the Church of the Presentation of the Lord periodically comes to us with conversations. We are all going to listen. Very interesting. But I would like more. Many of us still do not know how to pray, although everyone has a spiritual need for this. Prayers sustain a person. But the trouble is that a blind person cannot read ordinary prayer books. There are prayer books in Braille, but, unfortunately, there are very few of them and very few people who own this system. That is why our society turned to the Kuzbass-North Media Center with a request to record the main prayers of Orthodox believers on audio CDs. I personally know more than a dozen people who would like to have these discs at home.

Media Center "Kuzbass-North" in Yurga, Kemerovo region responded to the request and prepared a set of audio books "Orthodox Prayer Book". The discs were released with the financial support of the Zarechye charitable foundation and became the "first sign" in the "Talking Book" series for Orthodox believers.

Vadim Akentiev, editor-in-chief of the MC "Kuzbass-North":

The set includes four disks: morning and evening prayer rules, prayers for Holy Communion and after it. The recording was made according to the printed publication "The Prayer Cover of an Orthodox Christian." Discs with prayers were received by several specialized institutions of the Kemerovo region: the Society of the Blind in Yurga, the Kemerovo Regional Specialized Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired, boarding school No. 23 for the blind and visually impaired children in the city of Polysaevo.

Tatyana Vetoshkina, deputy Director of the Regional Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Kemerovo:

Our blind, visually impaired readers yearn for faith. They believe. They need books. There are books in Braille - the Psalter and the Bible. But very few people can read Braille. Usually those who lost their sight in childhood can learn this system. In adulthood, this is almost impossible. The fingers have already lost their sensitivity. Of course, there are books that speak about faith, about God. But, unfortunately, such books are very rare in our institutions, and people constantly ask for them.

Audiobooks are one of the available sources of information for blind people. Today, there are entire online libraries where you can download almost any book. But not all literature in audio format is convenient for use by blind people. When recording the Prayer Book, its creators consulted with members of the Society of the Blind and tried to make it as convenient as possible to use.

We took an active part in the creation of these discs. All our wishes were taken into account. Each disc is in a separate box with an insert that contains the name of the disc in Braille. Each prayer is recorded in a separate file. The text is very legible. Even for a person who is not familiar with prayers, every word will be heard.

At first it was planned that all the prayers for the record would be read by the priests. But in the course of the discussion, we came to the unanimous opinion that for blind people, when listening to a prayer book, it is important not so much the dignity of the speaker, but good diction and correct literary pronunciation.

Ekaterina Isaakovna Chizhik:

I listen to CDs on the music center. My son taught me, now I can turn it on myself. I specially marked each disc for myself, because. I can't read Braille. In the morning I wake up, wash my face and turn on the disk with morning prayers. In the evening I go to bed and turn on the evening. I do not know the Church Slavonic language and therefore do not understand everything. I listen to prayers, and then I think about what they are about. I have already figured out something, but about something else I need to talk with the priest, ask questions.

Righteous John of Kronstadt spoke about the meaning of prayer as follows: “Prayer is the greatest, priceless gift of the Creator of creation, to a person who, through it, can converse with his Creator, like a child with the Father, pour out feelings of surprise, praise and thanksgiving before Him.” The creators of the discs hope that the audiobook "Prayer Book" will become a support for blind people on the path to God, help in arranging peace of mind, a cure for despondency and weakness.

Priest Vitaly Churkin, priest of the church of St. Seraphim of Sarovsky, Polysaevo:

It is prayer that can make a person the happiest on earth. When a person prays, he calls God into his life. Happiness is when it is calm, joyful, and love is in the soul. This peace is found in prayer, but in fact - in God.

Elena Antonova, reader of the library for the blind and visually impaired, Kemerovo:

These discs are a must. For example, I don't know prayers. I speak in my own words. But to go to communion - you need to know what prayers to read, both in the morning and in the evening.

Ekaterina Isaakovna Chizhik:

When I listen to prayers, I withdraw into myself. As if I'm not even here, I'm ascending somewhere. Pictures are drawn in front of me as I saw it before when I went to the temple. I feel so good, such inner warmth comes, tears roll.

Priest Vitaly Churkin:

Every person needs to learn how to pray, for example, our children from the boarding school, who do not see, but hear the words of prayers. They can learn them and call God into their lives. Therefore, the Talking Book project is very relevant now for our youth. It doesn't matter if they see well or badly. They can hear who the Lord God is, that this is the Comforter, that this is Love. This is the one who nourishes our life, who fills our life with happiness. Therefore, I wish everyone to pray and become the most happy man on the ground.

Since the beginning of 2012, the Media Center Kuzbass Center has begun work on recording the next discs from the Talking Book series.

Our future plans include recording audio CDs with the lives of the saints. Work has already begun. The wish of our friends from the society of the blind, of course, will be taken into account. Thus, next in line in the "Talking Book" series we now have "Lives of the Saints" and "Psalter". We have seen the real need of blind people. We cannot give such a disk to everyone who wants it. And we would like our work to benefit everyone who needs its results. Therefore, it was decided to put the prayer book in free access on the website of our partners - the "Law of God" project. Here, anyone can get these recordings for non-commercial use. Of course, help is needed here. strangers: download, burn to disk. But we hope that this circumstance will not become an insurmountable obstacle. An ordinary PC user will cope with such a task; special in-depth computer knowledge is not required. We hope that the recordings made by us will be in demand by relatives of blind people who care about their loved ones, Orthodox parishes and the sisterhoods that provide care in this area, the societies of the blind and their libraries”

    Morning and evening prayers

Who can benefit from prayers in audio format:

Of course, all people with poor eyesight or sore eyes.

Those who are on the road (these prayers can be recorded on the player and listened to).

The housewife, who is so busy with the children, with the housework, that she simply does not have time to get up and calmly pray. You can turn on these prayers and do household chores (cleaning, washing dishes), and stay with the Lord in your mind. In this case, the most ordinary things, the vanity of life, will become spiritually useful for us.

Another thing is that we should not abuse this opportunity. Replacing personal prayer with listening to a tape is not a good thing. A healthy person can replace a personal prayer by listening to a recorded prayer only in force majeure circumstances. But if our personal prayer is supplemented, replenished by listening, this can only be welcomed.

May God help us never to be separated from Him by the mind, if possible.

During Bright Week Easter Hours are used as morning and evening rules.

Looking for peace and tranquility in morning prayers

Hierodeacon (now Bishop of Pokrovsky and Nikolaevsky) Pachomius (Bruskov) reads

    Hegumen Ambrose (Ermakov) reads

Studying the prayer book, namely Orthodox prayers, one can immediately distinguish from them the writings of the Optina Elders, because their power lies in the wisdom of sayings. Download and listen Orthodox scriptures possible in the early morning hours, every believer will feel a sense of peace, as well as inner peace. It goes without saying that you manage to organize your own thoughts, start a new day joyfully.

    morning prayer rule

God, have mercy on me a sinner. (Bow)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read:

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and bestowing life on those in the tombs. (Three times)

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three times)

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake. Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Rising from sleep, we fall down to Thee, Blessed, and cry out to the angelic song of Thee, Stronger: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, God, have mercy on us the Mother of God.

    Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Rising from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for many for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering, Thou didst not be angry with me, lazy and sinful, lower Thou didst destroy me with my iniquities; but you usually loved humanity and in the hopelessness of the lying one raised me up, in a hedgehog to matine and glorify Your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth to learn Thy words, and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and sing Thee in confession of the heart, and sing of Thy all-holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever centuries. Amen.

Come, let us worship and bow down to Christ Himself, the King and our God. (Bow)

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you; as if you were justified in your words, and conquered when you judge Ty. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins give birth to me, my mother. Behold, thou hast loved the truth; unknown and secret wisdom Thou didst reveal thyself to me.

1 I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. 2 And into one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, Whom all was. 3 For us, man, and for our salvation, who descended from heaven and became incarnate of the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin, and became human. 4 He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried.

God, cleanse me a sinner, for I have done no good before Thee; but deliver me from the evil one, and may Thy will be in me, may I open my unworthy mouth without condemnation and praise Your holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

Rising from sleep, I bring the midnight song to Thee, Savior, and falling down crying out to Thee: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but have mercy on me, crucified by will, and speeding me up lying in laziness, and save me in anticipation and prayer, and after a dream in the night, shine upon me a sinless day, Christ God, and save me.

To Thee, Lord Love of Man, I have risen from sleep, and I strive for Thy works by Thy mercy, and I pray to Thee: help me at all times, in all things, and deliver me from every evil worldly thing and the devil's haste, and save me, and enter into your eternal kingdom. You are my Creator and all good, the Provider and Giver, all my hope is in You, and I send glory to You, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

My Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos, with Thy holy and all-powerful supplications, expel from me, Thy humble and cursed servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all filthy, crafty and blasphemous thoughts from my accursed heart and from my darkened mind; and extinguish the flame of my passions, for I am poor and cursed. And deliver me from many and fierce memories and enterprises, and from all the actions of evil free me. As if you are blessed from all generations, and Your honorable name is glorified forever and ever. Amen.

Angel of God, my holy guardian, given to me by God from heaven! I diligently pray to you: enlighten me today, and save me from all evil, guide me to a good deed, and direct me on the path of salvation. Amen.

Pray to God for me, holy servant of God (we call the name of the saint we wear), as if I diligently resort to you, first aid and a prayer book for my soul.

Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you; blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as if the Savior gave birth to our souls.

Save, O Lord, Thy people, and bless Thy heritage, granting the victory of Thy holy Church against the opposition, and Thy keeping Thy Cross living.

Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (name), my parents (names), relatives (names), bosses, mentors, benefactors (their names) and all Orthodox Christians.

Give rest, Lord, to the souls of the departed Thy servants: my parents, relatives, benefactors (their names), and all Orthodox Christians, and forgive them all sins, voluntary and involuntary, and grant them the Kingdom of Heaven.

From Ascension to Easter we read:

It is worthy to eat as truly blessed Thee, the Mother of God, the Blessed and Immaculate, and the Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth to the real Mother of God, we magnify Thee.

An angel cryingly more gracious: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And pack the river: rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the tomb and raised up the dead; folks, have fun!
