All the apostles along with Mother of God and with the other disciples of Christ and other believers were with one accord in the same upper room in Jerusalem. It was the third hour of the day, according to the Jewish account of hours, that is, in our opinion - the ninth hour of the morning. Suddenly there was a noise from heaven, as if from a rushing strong wind, and filled the whole house where the disciples of Christ were. And fiery tongues appeared and rested (stopped) one on each of them. All were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to praise God on different languages who were not previously known. So the Holy Spirit, according to the promise of the Savior, descended on the apostles in the form of fiery tongues, as a sign that He gave the apostles the ability and strength to preach Christ's teachings to all peoples; descended in the form of fire as a sign that it has the power to scorch sins and purify, sanctify and warm souls.
In Jerusalem at that time there were many Jews who came from different countries on holiday. The apostles went out to them and began to preach the resurrected Christ in their native languages. The sermon had such an effect on those who listened to it that many believed and began to ask: “What should we do?” Peter answered them, “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; then you will also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Those who believed in Christ willingly accepted baptism, there were about three thousand people that day. Thus, the Kingdom of God, that is, the Church of Christ, began to be established on earth.

Today, immediately after the Divine Liturgy, Vespers is served in remembrance of the descent of the Spirit of the Comforter upon the holy apostles. During this divine service, kneeling prayers are read, for the sending down to us of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of reason and the fear of God (a kneeling prayer after a special litany). The Holy Church prays for the grace of the Holy Spirit to be given to all present, as well as to our formerly deceased fathers and brothers and other relatives in the flesh, so that they too can be arranged to be participants in the Kingdom of Glory in the land of the living... lower if there is one day of his belly” (a kneeling prayer after “Vouchee, Lord, this evening”).
Without the grace of the Holy Spirit there is no salvation, no true Christianity. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself repeatedly said that this gift of God is necessary for His followers. He spoke very definitely about this in a conversation with the righteous Nicodemus, who came to Him to find out what must be done in order to be saved. “Truly, truly, I say to you,” the Lord taught Nicodemus, “unless one is born again ... of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God: that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3 , 3. 5-6). The meaning of the words of the Savior is clear: if there is no spiritual birth, if the grace-filled gifts of the Spirit of God are not received, it is impossible to inherit the Kingdom of God.
But how can one acquire the grace of the Holy Spirit? First of all, you must have a sincere, heartfelt desire, combined with a firm and unshakable faith. It is necessary to avoid all unrighteousness, sinful filth and do good. The means to acquire grace are given in the Church of God, in the holy temple, in the sacraments of the Church and in prayer.
Why decorate the temple on the Trinity
